Production process

In making a film there are 5 main steps that the company has to go through to get the desired film to their audience. These steps vary in the level of difficulty but all 4 steps have a simple process to follow to make these steps quicker and easier. The processes are:

Development or negotiating a brief

Pre-production

Production

Post-production

 

Development of the brief-

This is where the writer and the screenwriter and other members of the production team. Have to come up with an initial idea for the film and get ideas together to see if it is a viable option for the company to proceed with.

Pre-production-

This is where the production team informs the producer, director, and production designer, director of photography, sound and editor. The producer has the main responsibly to organise the process of the making of the film with the help of the director and production designer to come up with suggestion of the location, actors. The director is mainly in charge but with help of the director of photography of coming up with the camera shots and how the film will be edited together and also working with the actors to insure that they get the right result. This will look like the vision of the writers.­­

Production-

The first few things in the production phase that they need to consider is what equipment will be needed, who the target audience is and how it will be disturbed and exhibited. The Director and director of photography were tied up on other projects when the location was being chosen. Normally the filming crew would be involved in choosing locations to advise about lighting, lenses, and sound requirements and making sure they’d have exactly the right equipment to make the film work. This will be the actual shot of the film but depending on the budget size and project size and on the complexity of the film.

Post-production-

The first thing will be the editor will edit the film which will be like the cutting the clips together and the lighting of the film and also top add in the cast onto the beginning and the end credits at the end of the film. This process can take a few days to a few weeks to complete depending on the length of the film and its budget. Then the sound editor will add in music to the film and add in sound effects to the final product. They use royalty free music and effects as this is the cheapest option. Finally the colour correction needs to be done to make your film stand out from other films because it will give your film a specific look and feel.
