 Location shots for the thriller opening sequence

 

 

This is the location shot of how we will be getting to our filming location which is by going down this foot path. this will be a risk for the staff and equipment because as the weather will cause the path to be slippery which could cause injury. the whole film will be filmed here apart from the waking up scene of Daniel which will be in his bedroom. we have picked this location as it is remote and quiet which will result in less background noises as well as no one seeing us when we have the weapons out which could cause confusing, etc. Also for this location at night will bring a more gloomy and horror feeling to the film as this sort of location is associated with the horror genre films.

3. In the running scene the actor (Daniel) may slip on the floor as if it has been raining the floor will be mud resulting in increased risk of slipping

1. Crossing the road we will use appropriate cross locations to get across
2. We will find an appropriate entrance point to get inside the woods
3. The weather we will check before filming to see if the weather is appropriate to film in. also we will wear suitable clothing.
4. We will inform locals of our filming to prevent any misunderstanding
5. We will give a prep talk about the weapons to ensure safety.

 

Record your findings on this form and implement them

We have found that there is a crossing located near the film site which is approximately 2 minutes away.

We have found that there is a back entrance to the woods which is just around the corner where we last looked this will be the point of entry.

We have downloaded a weather app which we have continuously used to get the perfect weather report for our filming.

We have had a meeting with the actors to ensure safety with the weapons provided whilst we are filming.

Mind map of idea

so with this mind map that the group has created it shows us all the different aspects that we need to consider when making and planning our opening sequence. this consists of a few ideas from each of the different areas such as for the camera shots we have mentioned POV, over the shoulder, close up and master shot. but we are going use other shots such as long shots, high angle/low angle shots and also panning shots. so this ideas sheet will give us an idea of What to do when making the storyboard and filming the opening in general. also gives us an idea of what the film will come out like.

Mise-en-scene

• The use of blood through out the opening of the film connotes to us as the audience that this film is going to be gory. we can tell this by the way the blood is being moved about such as the blood flowing down the stairs connotes that someone is bleeding out or when the bloods is splatted against the wall connoting that someone has been hit with something. so overall the use of blood brings a dark and cynical sense to the film.
• The use of the weapons being dipped into the pool of blood is very stereotypical as a weapon because in many other films this have been used as the murder weapon so the use of it being dipped could relate to it being the weapon or being thrown out and the psychopath using something else.

Camera

• the use of the shaky camera throughout the opening sequence to create a dark and weary mood towards the audience to create an uneven feeling to put them on the edge. this is seen by the constant movement which could connote that the psychopath has mental issues and then camera is looking from his point of view at his life which explains the movement of the camera.
• close up shots are used throughout this opening this connotes that the director wants us to get an idea of what the psychopath or victims are like to create a relationship with them throughout the film. but also the use of close up shots could be to limit your range of vision or surround to make the film seem more gloomy and mysterious, so we know that the director doesn't want to give everything away straight away.

Editing

• the title effect at the beginning of the film looked like human veins which connotes a virus based film because within zombie films the use of the veins on humans arms are the first sign to knowing that you are turning. so for people who are wondering what the films is about this effect helps them to figure the film out which also goes with the director giving the user some indication about the film is about.
• The use of the flicking images halfway through the opening sequence connotes a psychopath who is confused about their surroundings and that they are looking for information of something that will help the event that will calm the situation or remembering something that was in the past

Sound

• The use of the incidental music helps to build up tension of the film that will make the audience feel on edge because they don't know whether something is going to come up next such as a jump scare. but also they do it so the volume of the music gets louder and louder building that expectation that something is going to happen or pop up because something has to end so the volume has to quieting down to get to the pace of the film.
